making cocktails for alabama chanin

If you're not aware of Alabama Chanin, you should be. Based in Florence, Alabama, they have gained signifiant attention for the way they operate. Starting out as primarily a clothing company, they now have developed an entire lifestyle brand based of a very simple mantra: "Thoughtful design. Responsible production. Good business. Quality that lasts."

The visionary behind Alabama Chanin is Natalie Chanin. She's developed a huge following over the years on her Journal, a daily blog with inspiration and information about her business and the Alabama Chanin lifestyle.

A few months ago Alabama Chanin reached out to me about creating some cocktail content. Having seen what I was doing with 3st of the Month, they asked if I could create a monthly feature for them. I was honored to.

The funny thing was, this was the first time in my professional career that I had ever written as myself. Typically I create content in the voice of the client, stepping into their personality while I write. While at first it was slightly unnatural, I have come to treasure this opportunity to put my personal thoughts out there into the universe.

It started last October with a feature called "Reclaiming Church Punch" that focused on the art of making a party punch (it's a much more complicated process than you would imagine).

Since then, I've written posts about Lavender Vodka, Homemade Curaçao, Champagne Cocktails, Homemade Bitters, Hot & Cold Tea Cocktails and a post dedicate to my love of tequila.
